Sewer Rats – ‘Money Maker’ EP

“By f**k! Fluffer Records have done it again… they’re putting out an EP by this fuzz-drenched crew of doomsters.” – Crack Magazine

“Sometimes words seem a bit small. This one of those times. Sewer Rats sound like something being born, growing and crawling out of a primeval swamp.”Louder Than War

Fluffer Records, the visceral London based label that not only bought us a host of unforgettable live music nights featuring the likes of Slaves, God Damn, Cerebral Balzy and Bad For Lazarus, but are also responsible for recorded output of garage-punk duo Love Buzzard, have proudly announced the release of their newest signing, Sewer Rats.

Their vinyl EP, ‘Money Maker’’ marks over a year of searching for the perfect band to follow up Love Buzzard’s latest release. Expectation is high as these upstarts continue to make waves in the London live music circuit and, having come across the three piece in a disused Grimsby Fish Market, we’re promised a live show like nothing else. Sewer Rats are the real deal, uncontainable attitude collides head-on with chorus hooks full of genuine rock swagger and grit. Transcendental psychedelic jams follow beer soaked crowd surfing and riotous noise-outs.

This EP release captures so much more than just their live shows too, conveying the energy there, raw passion and noise. It also showcases the staggering musicianship the boys can muster, 20 years old and channelling a range of the greats from The Doors to Motörhead. ‘Money Maker’ opens with the aptly named ‘Skint’, a beat driven blues dirge with doom breakdowns and guitars that rip and roar like muddied chainsaws. Bruce Campbell facing off an Army of Darkness.

‘Devil Blues’ brings forward more psychedelic guitars and sinister, other-worldly double vocals before ‘Black Label Serotonin’ breaks up the speed-core with cleaner, acid-soaked psych. Here we’re left to bake in the sun, lifted away momentarily before a wall of feedback has us crash down to earth joined by the pounding drums and fierce riffs of ‘Moneymaker’.

The EP closer, ‘So Far Away’, impresses with Americana hard rock melodies and harsh vocals to rival Lemmy himself. Shredding, classic guitar solos battle against Sabbath-esc, drawn out chords leaving us in many ways as their live shows do, eager for more and desperate for another hit.

Fluffer Records are calling them “The Future of British Rock N Roll”, and at this point in their career, it’s hard to argue.

Brand New Single is ‘Ready and Waiting’ – Becca B

Becca B is not fussed about hiding behind an alter-ego. She believes in the principle of ‘What you see is what you get’ and wants the world to know what she is about. She feels that her music gives her a chance to be truly authentic. After having experimented with different styles in the past she has now found her sound and explains: “I feel R’n’B gives me a more intimate platform to put across my feelings, fantasies and loves of life.” With this approach her musical end-product draws upon inspiration from artists such as Pink, Jason Derulo and Rihanna.

Her new single “Ready and Waiting” is a sophisticated R’n’B track that, underpinned by a flawless production and additional rap interlude by the brilliant MceBisi, has got some definite hit potential. She says: “This song is also about new steps. It is about the flirtatious engagements between two new people wanting something more form each other.”

The single “Ready and Waiting” is out on 12th February 2016.

Enemies announce short run of UK live shows

Previous praise for Enemies:

“It’s a swollen behemoth of rhythms and hooks. Jagged guitars bob and weave amidst minimalist harmonies – think of (very) early Foals or early Everything Everything – with gossamer-thin layers all combining to create a richly textured piece of atmospheric pop.”
 – The Line of Best Fit

“…even when there aren’t lyrics it’s hard to fight the feeling that the songs are all about friendship, impossibly romantic love, and beating the worst possible odds. You’d shout along, if there was a chorus.”
MTV Iggy

“An impressively pitched, precisely paced and downright enjoyable soundtrack to the summer”Irish Times

Following on from the release of the bands latest single ‘Play Fire’ in 2015 (their first single in close to two years), Enemies have now announced that they will be playing a short run of dates across the U.K in March 2016.

The dates precede a US tour with Topshelf Records labelmates Weatherbox and Prawn. The dates (two of which will feature support from Delta Sleep) are as follows:

09.03.16 – Leeds,    UK @ Nation Of Shopkeepers (Tickets)
10.03.16 – London,  UK  @ The Lexington (Tickets)
11.03.16 – Brighton, UK @ Bleach (Tickets)

Limited review guestlist available upon request

These dates will be the bands first live performances since their set at ArcTanGent in 2014 and with another full-length album in the works it will give eager fans a chance to hear their new material early.

Speaking about performing their new material Lewis Jackson (guitars) says, “We’ve spent a lot of time over the last two years hiding away in our studio writing our next record. I think it started to give us all a heavy dose of cabin fever. Announcing these new shows gave us a lifeline, something to look forward to. We have a lot of faith in the new material and with that an urge to share it with everyone”

Master of Future Roots, Natty, is back with new album

Following his Top 20 debut album, ‘Man Like I’, Natty is back with his highly anticipated second album ‘Release The Fear’, a future-roots, concept album that takes us on a journey through love, redemption, self-identity and unity.

Described by the Telegraph as a “soul-reggae crossover sensation” Natty is an artist who brings the revolutionary spirit of the 60s and 70s into current times. The Sunday Times praised his lyrics as “sharply focused” and his songs as “free from production trickery”. Seven years in the making, Release The Fear reflects Natty’s spiritual and sonic progression, bringing forward cosmic and mindful energies through his unmistakable delivery.

The first single of the album, ‘I’m Alive’, is a catchy proclamation of faith and a declaration of thanks for new times and new energies. It is accompanied by an evocative and visually stimulating animated video.

Other inspiring songs include ‘Street lights’, a fast paced, high energy beat that dares us to reconnect with each other and the space around us, as well as ‘Stand up in Love’ which calls for a truly unifying love that transcends conventional boundaries.

Sonically, ‘Release The Fear’ is genre straddling whilst retaining an authentic, roots/soul/ Afrocentric identity,  amalgamating into what Natty describes as “future roots”. Recorded live, the album has a unique sound with tracks ranging from the delicate and hypnotic ‘Rainclouds’ to the militant and arousing ‘Change’ featuring Busy Signal and Albarosie.

Since parting with his major label, Natty has been hard at work building his own unique brand, independently releasing an award-winning EP, set up his record label Vibes & Pressure and a monthly club night by the same name.

Still very active on the live music circuit, the North Londoner has hit the stages of SWSW, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Reading & Leeds and the BBC Electric Proms. Natty has also toured the USA supporting Ziggy Marley and travelled to Zimbabwe, Brazil, Japan and Europe performing for local crowds.

Previously receiving the support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, ITV, MTV, Later with Jools Holland amongst others, Natty is excited to embark on his new project and share his message of love with the rest of the world.

The album ‘Release The Fear’ is out on 18th March 2016.

New Music From Mellor

Mellor Release New EP ‘Damage/Joy’

Lead Track: Dolly Daydream

Describing themselves as making indie ‘pop-smack’, Mellor are a four piece from Reading whose sound and image has been compared to that of The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane

Gary, Josh and Evert met at school and the line up was completed when Sam was introduced to them through a mutual friend. Laying the foundations of their songs through Gary’s guitar parts and lyric ideas, the band work collectively to create the sound they’re looking for. Their latest EP ‘Damage/Joy’ was produced by Mo Hausler (Babyshambles, Everything Everything) and the band feel this is their strongest release to date.

Since forming in 2011 Mellor have released three singles and an EP, all of which have gained national radio play courtesy of Absolute Radio and BBC 6 Music. The band have earned glowing reviews from magazines such as NME and Artrocker and have a large and ever growing fanbase earned through a year of intensive touring and support slots for The Milk, Carl Barat and The Kooks.
