‘Prisoner to the Past’ by Homesick Mick

The intriguing singer-songwriter, Homesick Mick, has released his latest single ‘Prisoner to the Past’, from his debut EP Black Hole Friday.

With some quality songwriting and meaningful lyricism, Homesick Mick has honed his folk-pop-rock style which is most evident in his festive release, ‘Prisoner to the Past’. The video for the track also features The Beatles greats, Paul and John, not the real ones, obviously, but they’re pretty good lookalikes! With the pertinent lyrics of the track, the evocative songwriting talents of John Lennon himself are not far away from Mick’s latest effort.

Homesick Mick has also been involved in a social media campaign against the Sir Philip Green, whose corrupt behaviour in extorting the former employees of BHS has been deplored by many, including members of parliament. Mick’s campaign went full throttle when he took to the streets of London outside Green’s flagship Topshop store where he protested on behalf of the BHS employees, accompanied by his guitar.

The well travelled singer has found himself performing across the UK at festivals such as Cambridge Folk Festival and Wychwood Festival and his upcoming album, The Mysterious Abduction and Return of Homesick Mick, is set for release in January 2017.

Francisco Bayon ‘When I Call You’ Review

Francisco Bayo¦ün - When I Call You

The Skype call inspired  ‘When I Call You’  by Francisco Bayon is an uplifting and unique summer anthem. Featuring accordion throughout the track builds up to a huge festival ready texture from just the Skype ringtone. I think everyone can agree that it is a very creative way of using the ringtone. Francisco’s fantastic vocals then come in and deliver some very catchy lyrics and melodic combinations that have been going round in my head for ages after listening to it. Go and get it now!

Sandy Kilpatrick single ‘Your Love is a Weapon’ to be taken from album ‘The Shaman’s Call’

Scottish singer-songwriter set to unveil new album on June 15th

An acoustic-folk singer-songwriter, Sandy Kilpatrick is now Portugal based having been born and raised in Scotland. His new album, ‘The Shaman’s Call’, is the latest stunning release in a career that has grown organically over time, with his sound echoing great songwriters as wide ranging as David Bowie and Damien Rice, while retaining his own unique take on the genre.

‘The Shaman’s Call’ marks further progression for Sandy Kilpatrick as an artist, guided out of the gate by new single ‘Your Love Is a Weapon’, a song which focuses on the intimacy and solitude of the writer at work: https://soundcloud.com/sandykilpatrick/your-love-is-a-weapon

Like this track, the album as a whole is designed to feel raw, and not hidden behind the smoke and mirrors of big production. The lyrics are intimate and thoughtful, hitting many highs, lows and moments of heartfelt poignancy – many of which listeners will immediately relate to.

Sandy Kilpatrick’s new music marks a new step forward as a solo artist and musician – not bad for someone who has already shared the stage with many excellent bands including Muse, Elbow and more.

Fittingly, this album represents taking his journey full circle, with a festival show coming up in July where he will be sharing the bill with The Waterboys – a band Sandy loved in his childhood. One of the first songs he learned on the guitar was theirs, ‘Fisherman’s Blues’, and it seems fitting that he should share the stage with them as he celebrates his latest release.

I’m No Barbie / One Way Or Another, the new AA side single by Laura Comfort

I'm No Barbie CDcoverRight Recordings is delighted to announce the release of I’m No Barbie / One Way Or Another, the new AA side single by Laura Comfort. I’m No Barbie is taken from Laura’s outstanding new album Don’t Ignore Me, whilst One Way Or Another is a reworking of the classic Blondie track. The release follows the success of her previous single Come Take A Ride, which reached Number 18 in the UK Club Charts.

Both tracks on the new AA side single  were recorded with the talented guitarist, Koe Naiche. Koe was discovered and nurtured by the music industry legend Dave Most of RAC Records and has worked alongside Eric Clapton, and with the legendary producer/engineer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones). His American Indian heritage and commanding stage presence perfectly compliment Laura.

Laura recently collaborated with the acclaimed producer John Ryan (Santana,  Styx, Lynyrd Skynyrd) on her latest album Dont Ignore Me. Laura’s unique voice, song-writing talent and striking looks have catapulted her into the spotlight. Originally from New York, but now a confirmed Londoner, she began singing from an early age in school choirs and a cappella goups before joining a successful band in college, leading to an East Coast tour of the USA and early TV appearances.

After moving to London she began playing guitar, and hit the singer-songwriter scene, performing in many of London’s live venues including Ronnie Scott’s Bar, the Groucho Club and the Arts Club in Mayfair. She then hit the charts, with her first release Let the Music Take Control reaching the Top 30 in the Music Week Pop Chart, and Top 10 in the UK Club Chart, championed by BBC Radio 1. Her follow up singles, Can’t Get Enough, Mountain and Addicted were equally successful, receiving rave reviews and airplay across UK and Europe. Now with a more organic rock ’n’ roll sound, Laura is poised to storm the charts again.

‘It Only Matter’s When You Think’, Debut Release from ‘Yo’

Influential singer-songwriter releases intriguing 13 track album

IMG_8874

Having lived in a variety of places over Europe and the United States, musical collective ‘Yo’ has had a vast array of influences to draw upon which contributed to his upcoming debut album.

Currently based in the birthplace of soul and jazz in New Orleans, the brains behind ‘Yo’ has clearly been inspired by his surrounding areas within his writing, as well as indie-bands such as Kasabian and the Arctic Monkeys, not to mention the incredibly influential Oasis who have provided a canvas for an entire generation of music, thus creating a fresh yet unique sound.

Despite being a newcomer on the music scene, ‘Yo’ has written and recorded an entire album as a creative outlet, cultivating and honing his sound and style to perfection.

Each song on the album is an artistic demonstration of creative talent, boasting an individual sound using a mixture of intricate guitar chords, the latest technology and studio effects. However the promised constant is the distinctive sound of Andre’s original vocals, making the innovative young artist impossible to pigeonhole and making him all the more memorable. Produced with listener’s at the forefront of his mind, ‘Yo’ wanted to make music that can be enjoyed at chilled out festivals, played in pubs and clubs or used as an escape from everyday trials and tribulations, and he’s certainly succeeded in catering for all.

A love of travel has directly influenced the writing, and the style in which he has written the songs featuring on the album allows the listener to travel with him, joining him on his musical journey. However he remains allusive and mysterious, his music being his preferred method of communication.

‘It Only Matter’s When You Think’ is the first single due for release from the album, with heavy drums, soaring guitar riffs and laid-back vocals that wouldn’t sound out of place on a ‘Kerrang!’ playlist, this track is bound to make a positive impact on any would-be fans. It’s due for release on February 23rd.

With his main focus on the audience’s experience and how his songs will sound live as opposed to generating fans through the medium of mainstream pop, ‘Yo’ is an exciting new force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

The exciting 13 track album ‘Vagrancy’ is due for release April 27th, expect heavy drums with an electro-indie twist.
