PVRIS Premiere New Song & Music Video For “My House”

PVRIS is a ground breaking band for Rise Records as they are the first female-fronted band to be signed to the label. Composed of lead vocalist Lynn Gunn, guitarist Alex Babinski and bassist Brian MacDonald, the band are a cool, captivating mix of talent. 

The trio have a rock, pop sound and it’s truly intriguing to watch them do their thing.

New urban pop artist Halo releases ‘Highlights’ EP

Four song collection out now following Sept 15th release date

Nigerian born, London based Halo is a rapper with a confident urban pop sound. His brand new four song EP, ‘Highlights’, was released on September 15th.

The EP, full of upbeat melodies and soulful vocals, as well as some top class production, had one aim when Halo was writing it – enjoying all the many positives in life in a world which can be focussed on the negative. As Halo puts it himself:

‘Everyday is somebody’s birthday so there’s always a reason to turn the music up’.

Halo is also not new to the music business. His career until now has already seen him working on previous projects supporting the likes of Ludacris and receiving support from across the board, including from poles apart tastemakers Tim Westwood and Tom Robinson. He also featured on an unreleased Leona Lewis track, which goes to show he isn’t starting from scratch in a music industry which is often difficult to break.

But with this new EP, Halo is taking that reputation in the industry, and looking to build on it. Keep your eyes peeled for a new video on the way too, with a new clip in development for EP opening track ‘Think About Me’.

Lydia Kakabadse provides an ethereal listening experience with her album “The Phantom Listeners”

British born composer Lydia Kakabadse, grew up in a quiet market town in Cheshire, and has been composing music since the young age of thirteen. Working as a solicitor in previous years, Lydia has a talent for writing both chamber and choral music and her works include songs, string quartets, musical dramas, a cantata, song cycles for unaccompanied male vocal choir and a concert Requiem Mass. Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of influences such as Middle Eastern Music, mythology, nineteenth century poets, Latin Literature and talent for dancing, Lydia has concocted a potent five-piece album which is both majestic and chimerical. When listening, one can hear the distinct allusion to Middle Eastern music, which is brilliantly interwoven within the classical themes.

 

Lydia manages to incorporate aspects of her fascinating family history within her music.   Due to her multi-national background (Greek/Austrian mother and Russian/Georgian father) Lydia was brought up within the Greek and Russian Orthodox faith, from where she drew inspiration in such works as her string quartet Cantus Planus, song cycle Cantica Sacra and also a choral piece that is still being worked on. Lydia’s heritage on her father’s side is extremely fascinating, as her paternal grandfather was deputy prime minister of Georgia from 1921 – 1933 and shortly afterwards publicly denounced Stalin.

Lydia’s album – “The Phantom Listeners, Arabian Rhapsody Suite, The Mermaid” – which was released in 2011, gravitates towards an ethereal experience for the listener, providing stimuli for subliminal visuals. The Latin text within The Phantom Listeners and the (English) text in The Mermaid were both written by Lydia, the first inspired by Walter de la Mare’s poem “The Listeners” and the latter by Greek mythology.  The second  track on the album – “Arabian Rhapsody Suite” was partly written whilst Lydia was undergoing breast cancer treatment in 2008, and an article was published shortly afterwards in the Eastern Daily Press depicting how much  her composing helped her through the treatment. The third track – “The Song of the Shirt”, Lydia wrote when she was just fifteen!

Estrella announce release of their new single “Here I Am”

Scottish rock four-piece Estrella reveal the first single to be released from their second album. The much anticipated track, aptly named, “Here I Am’’ is set for release 24^th November.

The inspiration for the track was drawn from the guys becoming fed up of being told they need to ‘get real jobs’, so in true musician style, they reacted by writing a killer song. Proud of what they do and echoing their own journey, the words ratify the need to follow your own fate.

The track rings true to Estrella’s energetic rock sound and the production is absolutely seamless. The thoughtful lyrics, teamed with powerful guitar riffs is the stuff rock hits are made of.

Some very talented veterans of the rock world have lent their hands to the making of Estrella’s new album and the album has a provenance most rock bands would envy.

“Here I am’’ was recorded at the infamous Rockfield Studios, Wales. The very studios in which Queen recorded hit, “Bohemian Rhapsody”.  John T Sinclair, who has worked with rock heavyweights ‘Uriah Heep’, ‘The Cult’ and ‘Ozzy Osbourne band’, co-wrote and co-produced “Here I am”.  Production on the second album was overseen by Nick Brine, who has worked with and contributed to the global success of legends, The Darkness, Bruce Springsteen and Oasis.

Singer-songwriter River Child set to ‘Start Over Again’ with debut EP

Ex-busker takes to the studio and creates a gem – released 3^rd November

Hercules Morse takes you to the ‘Edge of Life’ with new release

New music from South Coast rockers released October 27^th

A Southampton based rock group with such an impressive live show that Turbowolf said they “wished they sounded like” them, Hercules Morse are a four piece hard rock band with a sound that moves between heavy and stoner rock.

Cody Pennington dares you ‘To Be Me’ with new EP

Stylish five song acoustic collection out now having been released August 16^th

A singer-songwriter who was born in Nashville, Tennessee, but now residing in Suffolk, Cody Pennington is an acoustic guitar based musician with a taste for a classy turn of lyrical phrase and some effective instrumental melodies.

Nominated at the NMG awards for ‘Best Male Solo Artist 2014’ this year, he’s clearly an artist on the rise, a journey that will no doubt be aided by the release of his new, stylish five song EP.

With an extremely personal song writing style and autobiographical lyrics that speak of love and loss alongside a range of upbeat and pared back tempos, his is a range that fits perfectly in a market which is currently on the hunt for a new male voice. And what a voice it is – clear, almost rasping, and very distinct – you can hear it married to some lovely fingerpicking in the title track of the new EP:

It’s a vocal that has placed him on the radar of some top-level music industry people; connections which saw him play in support of the international American Idol tour when they visited Turkey (another country the travelling troubadour has resided in). To play amongst such well-regarded vocal company without sounding out of place stands the songwriter in good stead, and Pennington is hoping that’s the first of many shows on that scale.

Not bad for a vocalist who only started singing by accidentally signing up for a choir in school.

Adventurer’s new singles ‘Take Me Higher’ and ‘Until The Sun Goes Down’ out on the 27th October

Leicestershire guys Fred Walker and Alex Jones are the pair that form electronic duo, Adventurer. With a history in the metal scene, the guys have recently turned their hand to producing electronic music and the self confessed ‘nerds’  seem to have found their calling.

‘Take Me Higher’ and ‘Until The Sun Goes Down’ are the two new singles from Adventurer, both out on 27^th October.  The clean, electronic vibe and slick production paired with the of these tracks would not sound out of place played at a cool, white-furnished bar in Ibiza.

Adventurer have already supported some of the UKs biggest acts, including, Pixie Lott, Young Guns, Pendulum (DJ Set) and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly. And their music has been played numerous times by the BBC.

Fred and Alex have been good friends for many years and have worked together on a variety of music projects since their mid teens. The guys are no strangers to getting creative when it comes to performing and sharing their music. A few years ago the guys headlined at the biggest tribute festival in the UK, Glastonbudget.  In Adventurers’ words:

‘’ We thought we’d crash and burn but somehow we managed to get thousands of mums screaming our names, and singing with us.’’

 Alex has even been known to grab a night’s kip on a kebab shop floor when touring in Switzerland as it was a better option than their overcrowded tour bus.

Shannon K to release anti-drugs anthem ‘Just Say No…!’

Single featuring Kumar Sanu and rapper Cyba, is out 8th September

With a thought provoking set of lyrics written by her nine year old sister Annabel, the new single from Shannon K was inspired by lessons the siblings were taught in school in relation to drugs. Having been made aware of the dangers of drugs in school, the pair decided to compose a song together – written by Annabel, performed by Shannon – which would raise further awareness of the issue.

Produced by David Tyrrell and mastered by Award winning engineer Tim Hamill at a studio in Wales, the song is an upbeat, infectious tune designed to carry the positive message of staying away from drugs.

It comes as little surprise that the two young girls carry such musical talent – their father is legendary Bollywood vocalist Kumar Sanu, who makes a guest appearance on the single himself.

A glittering career as a vocalist in Bollywood has seen him win a total of 69 awards including 64 in his native India (from Filmfare, Zee Cine, Kishore Kumarand more) plus 5 internationally (from Sunrise Radio-London, West Indian Academy, Grammy-West Indies, Bollywood Music-U.S.A. and Radio Lotus-South Africa).

However, with two talented up and coming daughters who share his passion for music, perhaps in time even his own sizeable list of achievements will be eclipsed.
