Exciting artist and producer, M3staken, otherwise known as M3 is releasing his super-experimental soundtrack album that blends elements of classical piano and electronic music with his primary genre of hip-hop.
Taking inspiration from huge acts such as Joey Bada$$, FKA Twigs and Jamie XX, it’s clear that M3’s style is one that is hard to pin down. However, this is not a bad thing; blending genres, experimenting with music and seeing what happens is an admirable trait within the musicianship of the ambitious M3staken.
The 8-track album entitled Apex works as an attempt to create a unique fusion of classical, hip-hop and electronic styles. He states that “as a primarily hip-hop based artist, it was important for me to emphasise the amount of musicality there is in hip-hop, while also using a mix of classical styles and modern techniques”.
M3staken’s classical sound contrasting with the hip-hop beats comes from unique techniques such as using live classical pianos rather than samples, thus escaping the hip-hop cliché.
